    NGORONGORO CRATER

    Often called the "Eighth Wonder of the World," the Ngorongoro Crater is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera—and a must-see safari destination. Its 18- kilometre-wide floor hosts over 30,000 animals in a unique, self-contained ecosystem. With its stunning scenery and rich wildlife, including the rare Black Rhino, the Crater offers some of the best game viewing in Africa.

    Tarangire National Park, famous for its vast number of Baobab Trees, for having the greatest concentration of Elephants per square km in the world and is the home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Tanzania, outside of the Serengeti Ecosystem. The unspoilt grasslands, floodplains, and woodlands of this beautiful game park provide sanctuary to diverse wild animal and birdlife is also prolific.

    LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK

    Lake Manyara National Park offers a compact safari experience that gives visitors the chance to see everything from the vibrant flamingos to the fearsome tree- climbing lions also famous for its large elephant population. The game park is dominated by Lake Manyara, a fluctuating body of alkaline water set within a shallow sump at the base attracting a staggering diversity of birds.

    After breakfast, drive through the Ngorongoro Highlands down to Lake Eyasi. In the afternoon, visit the Hadzabe hunter- gatherers and Datoga pastoralists, known for their traditional way of life and metalwork skills. Enjoy cultural interaction by the scenic salt lake.

    LAKE EYASI - HADZABE and DATOGA TRIBE

    Visiting the Datoga tribe will complete your cultural experience at Lake Eyasi. The Datoga are skilled farmers and craftsman. You can visit their habitat, and experience their culture first hand.

    The Hadzabe tribe of Tanzania are the last true nomads of Africa. You can join the men as they hunt for their daily subsidence using traditional Bow and arrows, or join the women as they forage for fruits and berries. This is not a show or a "tourist put on". This is the real deal of true African culture.

  • FROM LAKE EYASI TO NGORONGORO │ CRATER-RIM OVERNIGHT

    After breakfast, travel through the Karatu Highlands into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Arrive at your lodge set on the crater rim, offering breathtaking views into the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera.     The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and shelters an area of stunning beauty and superb game-viewing. The Crater is famed as being the ‘Eighth Wonder of the World’, and is a ‘must see’ on anyone’s itinerary. This extinct volcano - with its 18-kilometre wide crater floor - is home to an abundant and unique ecosystem that encompasses almost all of the wildlife that you would wish to see in Africa. It is home to over 30,000 animals, including the rare Black Rhino.

  • NGORONGORO GAME-DRIVE │ TRAVEL TO SERENGETI

    After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game-drive across its wildlife-rich floor. Picnic lunch en route. Around midday, ascend and travel northwest through the Conservancy towards Serengeti National Park.

    Arrive at your camp or lodge by late afternoon for dinner and overnight.

    The Serengeti National Park is one of the best wildlife destinations in Africa.

    Wildlife population in Serengeti is extravagant, making a safari in the Serengeti hard to beat. The Migration is Serengeti's main draw: This voyage of nearly two million of wildebeest, zebras, and other hoofed animals is the largest wildlife spectacle on earth.

    All the major safari animals occur in great numbers. Cheetah and four of the Big 5 are easily seen, but rhino sightings are rare, and only black rhino are present. Aside from the big cats, many other predators can be spotted including spotted hyena (especially in the morning), jackal and bat-eared fox.

    SERENGETI and SCENERY

    Serengeti’s scenery is renowned for its grassland plains in the southeast. The northern part is more hilly and rocky. To the west, valleys, rivers and forest can be found. Several areas in the Serengeti are dotted with ‘koppies’, granite outcrops rising up from the plains. It’s an immense landscape and quite stunning – big sky country that feels like untamed wilderness.

  • TRAVEL FROM SERENGETI TO LAKE NATRON │ AFTERNOON AT LEISURE

    Depart after breakfast and journey east along the remote Kenya–Tanzania border toward Lake Natron. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route. Arrive in the afternoon and unwind at your camp or lodge, with time to relax and take in the stark, otherworldly landscape.

    LAKE NATRON

    Lake Natron is part of Africa’s immense Great Rift Valley, situated in spectacular volcanic scenery and is probably the world’s most caustic body of water. The soda lake at the base of Ol Donio Lengai mountain - the only active volcano in Tanzania.

    Surroundings of the lake are home to Maasai tribesman while the lake hosts many aquatic birds. The area is also known for walking-safaris and climbing the volcano.

  • FULL-DAY LAKE NATRON │ GUIDED LAKE WALK & WATERFALL HIKE

    An active and scenic day at Lake Natron. Start early with a guided walk along the lake’s edge—perfect for birdwatching, especially flamingos. Spend the hot midday hours relaxing, then head out in the afternoon for a guided hike to nearby waterfalls and cultural interaction with local Maasai tribespeople.

    LAKE NATRON - WALK

    The lake flat surroundings the waters edge contains small streams, lakes and hills that provide a variety of hospitable environment for birds that thrive in the alkali oasis. Great opportunity for bird-watching including the lesser flamingo.

    WATERFALLS - WALK

    Walk up the Ngare Sero gorge to several waterfalls. The scenery is a unique blend of arid volcanic rocks and lush tropical palms. Bring good hiking-shoes!

  • TRAVEL FROM LAKE NATRON TO ARUSHA / KILIMANJARO AIRPORT

    After breakfast, begin your journey back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport, marking the completion of your Northern Tanzania Safari Circuit. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route. Drop-off will be arranged according to your onward travel plans.
